TUESDAY OF THE 34TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME

Reflection.

God's hand at work in History.

In the First Reading, Daniel described the dream of King Nebuchadnezzar and offered an interpretation. Daniel was sure of what he was saying about the king and his kingdom because he received it from God. Daniel talked about five empires, each represented by a different element. King Nebuchadnezzar’s kingdom is represented by gold and was at the head of the statue.

The interpretation of the dream of Nebuchadnezzar by Daniel reveals how the hand of God is always at work in history. God's hand is in control of history and God's time is always the best. At the favorable moment, He acts on behalf of his own and gives them victory.

In the Gospel, Jesus encourages us to look out for the signs of the times. Interpreting the signs of the time and seeing God's hand in it, we would be in a better position to be ready to meet the Lord. We pray to be able to see God's hand in the situations of our time.
