SATURDAY OF THE SECOND WEEK OF EASTER

17th April 2021

BE CALM, HE CARES

Acts 6:1-7

Psalms 33

John 6:16-21

  • When we go through the dark valley of; loss, grief, pain, trials, challenges, fear, doubt, pandemic, or temptations, do we still believe that the Lord cares and hence remain calm, firmly rooted in unwavering hope and trust in Him?

  • When the disciples – in today’s Gospel - are facing danger and difficulty in the agitated Lake at the time of nightfall; “The sea rose because a strong wind was blowing,” John 6:18.

  • Jesus comes to their rescue; “It is I; do not be afraid.” John 6:20.

  • His presence gives them courage and hope; this enables them to cross the Lake.

  • When they – and we – feel frightened and helpless, the Lord comes and says; “It is I; do not be afraid.” Jesus is in our midst as one who serves and saves. His presence saves his apostles in the trials and troubles they face on the way.

  • We get frightened because we fail to recognize his presence in our difficult experiences. But his voice is effective; it removes fear. The tempest calms down and the other shore is soon reached, “Then they were glad to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going.John 6:21.

  • The Lord keeps watch over us at all times, and especially in our moments of temptation and difficulty. Jesus assures us that we need not to fear if we trust in Him and his great love for us. When we “go with Jesus”, we are assured of reaching our destination.

  • When we face storms of life, may we always turn to the one who watches our struggles and comes to our help. The Lord always extends his hands to us as he did for Peter, we need only to have faith and hope in God’s love and care. Jesus will always come to console and strengthen our tired bodies and minds.

  • With Jesus, even when the journey is hard, it will be peaceful.
