TODAYS REFLECTION, MEMORIAL OF ST ALPHONSUS MARIA LIGUORI, PRIEST AND DOCTOR OF THE CHURCH.MON 18TH WEEK, AUG 1 ( Jer 28:1-17, Mt 14:13-21 ).
JESUS' COMPASSION OVER THE PEOPLE SHOWS THE DEPTS OF HIS LOVE.
In today's gospel reading Jesus tries to take some time for Himself to mourn the death of John, a close relative and a good man who took his faith quite seriously, may be Jesus even foresaw in John's death His own destiny.* When the crowds flock to Him and He sees their need, however, Jesus sets His own needs and desires aside and ministers to them, body and soul.
Jesus never disappointed those who earnestly sought him out especially the crowed that gathered in anticipation of their arrival with his disciples, Did Jesus' disciples resent this intrusion on their plan to rest awhile? Jesus certainly didn't - he welcomed them with open-arms.* His compassion showed the depths of God's love and care for his people. Jesus spoke the word of God to strengthen them in faith and he healed many who were sick.
Beloved, We ourselves wish to care for others, but we also believe that we do not have enough to do the great things that our hearts dream of.* But if we turn our gifts over to Jesus, along with our hopes and dreams, and let Him bless them then we can succed without doubt. *Fill us with gratitude for your blessings Lord, and give us a generous heart that we may freely share with others what you have given to us. MAY ST ALPHONSUS PRAY FOR US. HAPPY NEW MONTH OF AUGUST AND WISHING YOU HAVE A LOVELY WEEK AND BE BLESSED.
